The Police Authority has started to review its policing priorities and to consider the level of Council Tax that it will set next year in order to deliver them.

Crime has fallen steadily in Hertfordshire over the past five years and the percentage of crimes detected has risen.

However, a large percentage of our funding comes from Government grants but these have not kept pace with the rising costs and are expected to reduce even further from 2011.

In the past, we have used money from our reserves to reduce the shortfall but that is becoming increasingly more difficult.

As we agree next year's priorities and Council Tax for policing, we are faced with very difficult decisions and choices. Before making our decisions, we would like your views about what you expect from your local police services and how much you feel you should pay for them.

Please use the link below to complete a short on-line questionnaire and have your say in policing in Hertfordshire.  We would also appreciate your help in encouraging as many people as possible to fill in the survey (we can supply paper copies on request that can be returned to our FREEPOST address by phoning 01992 556600
