Important Furneux Pelham Allotments Print E-mail

Furneux Pelham Parish Council would like to know how many people in the village would be interested in taking on an allotment, if these were to be made available within the village.

Some land behind the church has been made available to the Parish Council, but there will be some cost involved in terms of fencing and laying utilities to the site.

The project will only be viable if there is a reasonable level of strong support from within the village. The Parish Council would therefore like to invite anyone who is interested in an allotment to come to a meeting in Furneux Pelham Village Hall at 7.30 pm on Thursday 20th January. The meeting will be followed at 8 pm by a Parish Council Meeting

Affordable Housing

Sally Smallwood from EHDC attended the January meeting and presented the results of the Furneux Pelham parish survey. In total 82 forms were returned, out of a total sent out of 220, a response rate of 38% . The survey showed that there was a small but significant need for affordable housing within the parish, with over a third of respondents identifying that the need was most acute for young people (39%), followed closely by families (31%). Additionally, 50 out of the 82 respondees also indicated that they thought a small development (between 3 and 10 dwellings) might be acceptable, and provided a number of possible site suggestions within their questionnaires.
